Natsume keeps doing the impossible: it makes you feel held. Two special episodes accompany the fifth season of Natsume's Book of Friends. In the first, Takashi Natsume loses his way in a forest while running an errand and is helped by a pair of wandering youkai who craft sake cups. Water drunk from one of their cups fills him with energy, since the cup makes any drink taste wonderful, though only for a single night. The next day he joins a youkai banquet with Madara, his cat-shaped guardian with a fondness for sake, and gets a rare chance to learn the craft himself. In the second, Natsume regrets turning down Madara's invitation to a banquet and follows him to a crumbling old mansion crowded with youkai. There the alluring youkai Hinoe tells him the abandoned house hosts a game of hide-and-seek whose winner gains control of a valley. Madara is still missing, and Natsume begins dreaming that he is a player in the game.
