Shiori has just started first grade and meets the thing she has heard frightening stories about: homework. Her nerves give way to excitement when the Asahigaoka girls decide to tackle their assignments together at Komari and Natsumi Koshigaya's house, though Natsumi's habit of putting things off soon turns the session noisy. Later, Natsumi asks her teacher Kazuho Miyauchi to let her start and lead a new badminton club. With no money and no gear, the girls turn to Kaede Kagayama, who runs the candy store, for help. A small mishap during their impromptu practice sends Kaede back to a memorable day when she looked after a young Renge Miyauchi. The result is a gentle, comic slice of life episode.
