Three middle school classmates end up as unlikely friends through silly schoolyard games. During recess, Olivia, a blonde transfer student raised in Japan who can't speak English, plays a look-away game with Hanako Honda, a cheerful, loud airhead desperate to fit in and become popular. Their noise annoys Kasumi Nomura, a serious, bespectacled loner who dislikes games because her older sister always beat her at them. Kasumi refuses to join but gets pulled in anyway and adds her own mischief. The trio forms a club devoted to pastimes, and from there, school days fill with failed English lessons, attempts at popularity and badly timed run-ins with teachers in a quick, absurd comedy.
