A lazy man wakes from his sleep and sets off for the seaside to spend the day fishing. On the beach a beautiful girl appears and draws him into the waves, then turns into the legendary turtle and carries him down to an undersea kingdom of fish and squid. Women in kimono lead him to a stately court filled with musicians and dancers, where a ballerina spins before him and he is served drink and handed a small gift box. Made in 1925, the short film is an early animated take on the tale and briefly cuts to live-action footage of the swelling sea.
