This is a show about food waiting to be eaten that somehow becomes about confronting mortality and loss. Oden-kun leaves his kettle to fight cancer cells for a stranger's mother, then spends 156 episodes chasing a dream he may never reach. Inside the kettle of an oden food cart sits a strange bubble of another dimension, home to Oden village. Its residents pass calm, pleasant days waiting for customers to come along and eat them. Meanwhile, Oden-kun spends his time helping troubled neighbors make their dreams come true. When he learns that a customer's mother has cancer, he leaves the kettle and, once eaten, goes up against a cancer cell named Gannosuke. Oden-kun's own dream is to one day meet his mother, and while he waits for that day he does one good deed daily. The episodes are short and played for comedy.
