SYNOPSIS
Matsunaga Gengo was once Edo's greatest fire-fighting samurai, a legend known as the "Fire-eating Bird" for his unmatched skill in battling infernos. He walked away from that life, but when the struggling Shinjo clan offers him a chance to lead their broken fire brigade, he accepts. What awaits is a ragged team of misfits with nothing but determination and each other. Together, they're called the Boro-Tobi-Gumi: the "ragged steeplejacks," scorned by the rest of Edo's fire brigades for their poverty and unconventional methods. Yet Gengo refuses to let that stop them from saving every life they can reach. As the team works to restore their clan's honor, a new threat emerges: a series of deliberately set fires spreading through the city, mysterious blazes that come to be known as "foxfires." With rivals questioning their worth and danger closing in, Gengo and his motley crew must prove that the greatest heroes aren't always the ones with the most resources. Sometimes they're just the ones willing to burn brightest when it matters.
