Food anime where the entire conflict is two old men arguing about whether a dish is actually good. The jokes land because the show commits completely to taking regional Japanese cuisine seriously, then undercuts that seriousness the moment someone's palate gets too pretentious. You're watching a comedy about taste that knows taste is personal, which makes the absurdity of having a "final showdown" between cooking philosophies actually land. The pacing lets each food moment breathe instead of rushing to the next gag. This movie gets forgotten because food comedies are easy to dismiss, but the execution here proves they don't have to be.

Ultimate Menu and Supreme Menu clash in a cooking showdown over dishes meant to help people live longer, pitting Yamaoka Shirou against his father, Kaibara Yuzan. A comedic Oishinbo film, it turns a culinary contest into a personal family battle.
