This is not a serious movie pretending to be serious. A caveman tribe and modern tourists collide in the same dinosaur-infested timeline, and the film knows exactly how absurd that is. The collision between primal survival instinct and modern panic becomes the actual comedy, watching a family armed with car keys and confusion try to help people who've never seen fire work. It swings for pure entertainment, not credibility. The T-Rex is the only thing that treats any of this with weight.
A modern family is sent back in time because of the Bermuda Triangle. The film also centers on a tribe of cavemen struggling against a mighty tyrannosaurus. Both stories share the screen in an action adventure movie that places a stranded present-day family in the same prehistoric world as the stone age tribe and the dinosaur that menaces it.
