Luffy at his most dangerous, training alone on an island where the whole environment wants him dead, learning what it means to be strong enough to protect people after watching Ace burn. Burndy World exists only to give that training weight, to show you what Luffy has become. The fight sequences remember that One Piece action is about momentum and willpower breaking through limits, not just choreography.

After the heavy loss he suffers at Marineford, Luffy is stranded on Rusukaina, a dangerous island full of huge creatures. Under the guidance of the legendary Silvers Rayleigh, he commits to two years of training to master Haki, carrying the weight of his promise to his friends. That training is interrupted when Sandersonia and Marigold, sisters of his ally Boa Hancock, are abducted. The culprit is Burndy World, a pirate known as the Destroyer of the World who wields the powers of the MoaMoa Fruit and who broke out of the sixth level of Impel Down because of Luffy's own reckless actions. With Hancock's help, Luffy tracks him down, relying on his growing command of Haki while facing his grief. This special tells part of the two-year gap in the story, mixing action, comedy and fantasy.
