The animation is so far ahead of TV One Piece that it looks like a different show entirely; Oda drew the storyboards himself, and you feel that obsession in every frame. This isn't some throwaway movie plot, it's canon, placed perfectly between arcs, and Shiki is the first real threat that forces the crew to fight as something more than a scattered band of idiots. Watch it for the action sequences that actually have weight and geography, for Nami getting a genuinely terrible situation that the crew has to actually solve, for a villain who earned his legend 20 years ago and still remembers it.

Word reaches Monkey D. Luffy and his crew that islands in East Blue are being wiped out, so the Straw Hats set off to find out why. Before they get there, a strange pirate ship descends from the sky, commanded by Shiki the Golden Lion. He was the first prisoner ever to break out of Impel Down, and he wields the power of the Float-Float Fruit. Twenty years after his escape, Shiki has returned with a plan to bring down the World Government. Struck by Nami's grasp of weather, he takes her to serve as his navigator and strands the rest of the crew on his floating islands. Cut off in a land that Shiki controls completely and crawling with monstrous beasts, Luffy and his friends must survive long enough to reach Shiki and bring Nami back.
