It's about two men learning that understanding a demon means understanding the person it came from, and that knowledge breaks something in you.

In Heian-era Kyoto, court musician Minamoto Hiromasa, a grandson of Emperor Daigo, seeks answers about the demons troubling the capital. His search brings him to Abe Seimei, a celebrated onmyoji with an otherworldly air who cares little for worldly affairs and is slow to lend a hand. Frustrated as Hiromasa is by that indifference, the two face the demons behind the strange incidents together. Each demon springs from a person's runaway emotions, such as longing, obsession or burning desire. As they dig deeper, a figure emerges from the shadows: Ashiya Doman, another onmyoji lurking behind the demons. Hiromasa's flute teacher Prince Atsumi, the emperor's onmyoji Kamo Yasunori and Lady Tsuyuko join them along the way, as the unlikely friends work to bring peace back to the capital.
