An immortal elf has spent centuries waiting for the perfect video game to exist, and now that it finally has, nothing, not shrine duties, not divine obligations, not even a well-meaning teenager, is pulling her away from it. Elda, an immortal elf summoned from another world during the Edo period, has been enshrined as the local goddess of Tokyo's Takamimi Shrine for over four centuries. She is also a total shut-in who would rather play video games, collect toys and eat snacks than step outside. The family that summoned her has served her for fifteen generations, and when Koito Koganei turns 16, the job of shrine maiden passes to her. Koito keeps Elda stocked with energy drinks and junk food while juggling school, and she is set on getting the lazy goddess to carry out her duties and meet more of the world, usually with the help of a well-chosen offering. Along the way, Koito learns about the area's history and why the locals adore and spoil their elf. The result is a supernatural slice-of-life comedy built around a centuries-old deity who cannot put down her controller.
