It opens with Tokyo getting flattened and a woman in almost nothing carving through soldiers with a sword, and then, forty minutes later, it wants you invested in whether she and a photojournalist can actually make it work. That whiplash is the whole appeal. Kahm is a genuine war criminal with a tail and a crush, Tetsuya is a guy with a camera who gets abducted into a royal wedding, and the OVA never once apologizes for the gap between those two facts. Geobaldi looming behind her like a walking mountain, Emperor Qmore perfectly happy to erase the planet his daughter picked a husband from, warships that look grown rather than built. Sixty minutes of 1986 cel work that lands every hit and every leer with the same confidence. It ends before Manabe's manga does, and you will be annoyed about that.

A photojournalist named Tetsuya witnesses something impossible during an alien invasion of Earth: a warrior woman carving through military forces with brutal efficiency. When their paths collide, he blacks out, only to wake up aboard her starship. His captor reveals herself as Kahm, princess of the invading force, and she has made a peculiar decision about his future. She wants him as her husband. Tetsuya balks at first, but he comes to see that marrying Kahm might spare the rest of humanity from destruction, even though her father, the emperor, is against the match. The result is a one-episode OVA that blends science fiction adventure with comedy, romance and ecchi fan service.
