A girl with nowhere else to go rebuilds her father's mahjong parlor into something that was never supposed to exist: a space where her friends actually want to be. The show is quieter than quiet, more interested in the weight of a cup of tea than the drama of a hand of tiles. It knows that sometimes home isn't inherited, it's built, one ordinary afternoon at a time, with people who choose to show up.

When her mother throws her out of the house for being too noisy, high school student Nashiko Jippensha loses the place where she and her friends used to spend time together. In Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, she finds that the mahjong parlor her father once ran is now empty, and she sets about fixing it up. While cleaning, she meets a talking bird who claims to be a mahjong spirit and urges her to give the game a try with her friends. The girls turn out to love it, and the old parlor becomes their new hangout, a spot for cooking, drinking tea and the occasional game in an easygoing slice of life story.
