The Dead Moon steals dreams and replaces them with nightmares. Sailor Moon doesn't stop them with power scaling, she stops them by refusing to let her friends' futures disappear. This is the magical girl story that understands why we need the dream in the first place.

The Dead Moon Circus arrives in Juban, aiming to steal the Legendary Silver Crystal and free their queen, Nehellenia. Using creatures called Lemures, the Circus turns people's dreams into nightmares, gathering energy to plunge the Earth into darkness and make it a planet of death. Usagi and her friends must take up their roles as the Inner Sailor Guardians once again to stop them. The threat intensifies when Mamoru suddenly falls ill after a total solar eclipse. Usagi and Chibiusa then meet Helios, a pegasus determined to unseal the Golden Crystal, which he insists is the only way to save their world. Worse still, the Guardians find they can no longer transform after the eclipse, leaving them exposed to the Circus's attacks. The first of two films adapting the Dream arc, it blends magical girl fantasy, drama and romance.
