A girl accidentally befriends an underground creature and an alien, and the show just... lets them be weird together without trying to be clever about it. No apocalypse, no grand purpose, just three beings figuring out how to exist in the same apartment and laughing at the tiny disasters that come with it. Chii-chan's deadpan reactions to human nonsense and Ucchan's alien incomprehension become the actual plot, episode after episode. It costs nothing to watch and asks nothing of you except to sit with something genuinely kind.

Saeki Yuuka is a middle schooler who keeps running into people who need a hand. One day she helps a strange, round, squishy creature that turns out to be Chii-chan, a being from deep underground, and the kind-hearted girl takes him home to live with her. An alien named Ucchan joins the mix too. Both names are puns: Chii-chan comes from the Japanese word for an underground dweller, and Ucchan from the word for alien. The short comedy series with a sci-fi twist follows the three through their everyday lives together, which turn out to be as touching as they are chaotic.
