A dog soldier mistakes his own commander's tank for an enemy position. That's the entire premise, and it's executed with such deadpan confidence that you realize this whole movie is just watching competence dissolve in real time. Norakuro isn't trying to be clever or clever about being dumb, he's just authentically, catastrophically confused, and the movie lets that confusion breathe without punching you in the face about the joke. What makes it stick is that nobody involved seems to think any of this is that unusual, just another day on maneuvers where a dog private has to account for his own spectacular failure.

Private Norakuro is sent out on training maneuvers with the army, and he cannot keep his allies and his enemies straight. He believes he has eliminated an enemy tank, but the tank he took out turns out to be the one carrying the Regimental Commander. The film is an adventure built around one soldier's mix-ups in the field.
