High schooler Ageha Yoshina, a confident teen who takes on jobs helping people for money, picks up a strange red calling card marked Psyren that someone left in a phone booth. Soon after, he learns that his childhood friend and classmate Sakurako Amamiya holds the same card, and she begs him to save her before disappearing. Searching for her, Ageha is pulled into rumors of a secret group called Psyren, said to be behind vanishings across the country. When he dials the number on the card, a mysterious voice quizzes him and finally asks whether he wants to go to Psyren. His answer drops him and Sakurako into a lethal game set in an eerie world overrun by monsters known as Taboo. Gifted with psychic abilities called PSI, the pair battle to make it back home in this action adventure with a science fiction edge.
