A man travels through a world where vending machines provide nearly everything, buying whatever he needs from them on his way to meet the creator. His goal is to buy a replacement for the earth itself. When he makes his request, the creator turns him down, explaining simply that there is no such thing as a brand new earth. Running only about four minutes, this short experimental film by Osamu Tezuka uses its spare story to express his despair over the earth's deterioration. It was made quickly as a stand-in at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival after work on The Legend of the Forest fell behind schedule.
