A girl carries an egg through a world that has forgotten what light is. A stranger arrives and asks her the questions you've been asking since the first frame, and neither of you gets a real answer. Angel's Egg doesn't move like other stories, it breathes, waits, lets silence speak, and by the end you're not sure if the egg was ever real or if that matters at all.

A lone young girl lives in a dark, desolate world full of shadows, carrying a large egg everywhere and guarding it closely. She gathers water in jars and scavenges for food and drink among strange sights: floating orbs crowded with goddess statues, huge tanks that seem to move with no one inside, and fishermen chasing the shadows of fish that do not exist. A mysterious man with a cross on his shoulder enters her life, curious about who she is and what the egg holds. Together they wander the broken landscape, questioning each other about faith, the purpose of the world and where their lives began. The result is a surreal, psychological fantasy drama told in a single OVA episode.
