Hibiki sees ghosts the way you see people, and she treats them the same way. The show doesn't waste time on horror or angst about her ability, it just lets her navigate a world where the supernatural is as mundane as homework and lunch with friends. Comedy comes from the collision between her completely normal teenage problems and the fact that half her social circle doesn't technically exist anymore. Hibiki Amami would be an ordinary high school girl if not for her sixth sense: she can see ghosts and other supernatural phenomena around her. Rather than being frightened, she would rather befriend the spirits and help them. The ghosts often return the favor by pitching in with her everyday chores, which means her human friends keep witnessing paranormal activity. Most of those friends accept her ability, but Narumi Inoue, who is terrified of anything supernatural, stubbornly insists that ghosts do not exist. Scared or not, she tags along when the group decides to join Hibiki in helping ghosts however they can. The result is a supernatural comedy about daily life shared between the living and the otherworldly.
