The English dub was given so much creative freedom that the voice actors basically wrote their own show over the source material, turning a forgettable ghost-of-the-week premise into something genuinely hilarious. SYNOPSIS
Satsuki inherits her mother's spell book and discovers she can see ghosts. Her new school is crawling with them. Vengeful spirits linger in the hallways, classrooms, and grounds, tormenting students and staff alike, and nobody else can perceive the danger closing in around them. Armed with her newfound abilities, Satsuki recruits a group of classmates to help investigate and exorcise the supernatural threats plaguing their school. The team includes a cynical devil cat who becomes their unlikely ally, providing cryptic advice and dark humor in equal measure. Together they uncover the tragic stories behind each haunting, piecing together why these spirits refuse to move on. What starts as isolated incidents builds into something darker. Each exorcism brings them closer to understanding a larger mystery connecting all the hauntings. The group must balance solving supernatural puzzles with managing actual school life, all while keeping their discoveries secret from adults who wouldn't believe them anyway. Part detective story, part horror, Ghost Stories maintains a tense atmosphere punctuated by moments of levity. The real stakes are personal: fail, and these ghosts will consume everyone around them.
