Rio spends 13 episodes chasing cards that mean nothing and a title that never matters, but the anime knows exactly what it's doing, letting you watch a gorgeous dealer smile through increasingly nonsensical casino duels without asking you to care about the plot. The voice acting sells characters who exist only to feed Rio exposition. Admit it: you're here for the colors, the confidence, and the fact that nothing in this show takes itself seriously enough to demand you do either.
Rio Rollins works as a dealer at the Howard Resort Hotel, a glitzy casino where visitors from around the world come hoping to win a fortune. Known as the Goddess of Victory, she is chasing a massive goal: collecting all thirteen legendary gate cards. Whoever gathers them all earns the title of MVCD, the top recognition for casino dealers. More than that, Rio wants to close the distance to her mother, one of history's greatest dealers, and these cards are her path forward. Along the way she battles rival dealers across the vast resort. Between the games, the story mixes silly humor with emotional moments that catch you off guard. The result is a comedy with an ecchi streak, full of cute and sexy girls, that swings between absurd laughs and genuine heart. Perfect if you want something fun and frothy that doesn't take itself too seriously.
