A five-year-old girl and a dog who barely moves become the entire world. Rita talks constantly, asking questions that shouldn't work but do, while Machin just exists beside her, no rushing, no point, no lesson. Rita is a bright, precocious girl of five, and Machin is a laid-back dog with a lazy streak. The two spend their happy days side by side, and the episodes follow their ordinary routines in a gentle slice-of-life style. Nippon Animation produced this 2010 run of 26 short episodes, based on the French picture book series by author Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod and illustrator Olivier Tallec.
