Robotan is a show that treats a homemade robot living with a family like the most normal thing in the world, then finds comedy gold in every domestic disaster that follows. Kan-chan built his best friend out of spare parts, and now Robotan is just trying to help with chores while accidentally destroying the kitchen or getting tangled up in the family's actual problems. The humor lives in that gap between a kid's genius invention and a robot that's maybe not quite ready for real life.

Robotan is a household robot who lives with an ordinary Japanese family, doing chores for them and acting as a friend to the kids. One account credits a nerdy schoolboy named Kan-chan with building him, while another says he came from beyond Earth. He becomes close to a young boy, and the pair keep landing in trouble because villains are after Robotan, though he wins every fight. The 33-episode TV series blends comedy with science fiction.
