The Inferno armor turns against its wielder. Suddenly the thing that saved humanity becomes the threat, and the Ronin Warriors have to hunt down a perfect dark copy of themselves across the globe. It's a premise that should feel cheap, a quick cash grab on the franchise name, except the 1989 animation sells every frame like it matters, fluid, detailed, alive in ways the TV series never quite managed. This is what happens when a studio decides a four-episode epilogue deserves to look better than the main show. The silence of that first warrior, the weight of fighting yourself, the animation carrying the emotional load when dialogue won't, it all adds up to something that respects what came before instead of just cashing in on it.

A silent, mysterious warrior appears out of nowhere. When the Inferno armor is called into battle against him, the stranger summons armor of his own: a black duplicate of the Inferno armor. The fight carries the warriors to the far side of the world, where they must once again protect humanity, only this time the threat comes from their own armor. The four-episode OVA is an adventure with a fantasy setting.
