The Dead Moon Circus is genuinely creepy, a traveling carnival that hunts people's dreams, but SuperS keeps undercutting it with candy-colored aesthetics and Pegasus showing up on a flying horse to save the day. Chibi-usa stops being dead weight and becomes the actual emotional core, her relationship with Usagi finally feeling earned instead of forced. The animation is noticeably sharper, the Pegasus sequences are legitimately gorgeous, and the whole season commits to being lighter without apologizing for it, even when that commitment costs it the gravitas of S.

Sailor Moon SuperS shifts the spotlight from Usagi to Chibi-usa and the rest of the Sailor Team, with the pursuit of dreams at its heart. During a total solar eclipse, the Dead Moon Circus, a foe from a hidden past, resurfaces seeking revenge on Earth's happy people. Its members want the Golden Dream Mirror, which would let them rule the world, so they attack innocent victims to seize and test their Dream Mirrors. They are also hunting Pegasus, who hides in Chibi-usa's dreams and becomes her new ally. Along the way, the Sailor Senshi gain new powers.
