You're watching a guy fuck up his entire life in real time, and the show somehow makes you care deeply about whether he deserves a second chance. The romance doesn't feel like a fantasy, it feels like watching someone navigate actual consequences, actual jealousy, actual competing loves that can't all be satisfied. Touma is reprehensible enough that you'll argue with other fans about him, but the show earns that argument by making every choice he makes feel textured and human instead of just "he's bad now." Twelve episodes is nowhere near enough for the story it's telling, and that incompleteness stings in exactly the way it's supposed to.
Touma Inaba is preparing for the entrance exam to Keio University, one of Japan's top three schools, when a young girl named Urara Kasuga turns up at his hotel room. She is his cousin, someone he hardly remembers from childhood, and she has long held more than cousinly feelings for him. Since he has nowhere else to stay, she invites him to live with her. Before the test, Touma meets Meiko Yotsuba, a refined and beautiful woman who is also applying to Keio. Meiko passes, but Touma fails after catching a cold from Urara just before the exam. Hoping to win Meiko's respect, he pretends he got in anyway. Now he is stuck in a love triangle, working to keep Meiko convinced he is a Keio student while still being there for Urara. The OVA mixes comedy, drama, ecchi and romance in an everyday setting.
