Sangokushi is a 1985 action special that adapts the classic Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and it was broadcast on NTV. The credits list Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga of the same name as the source, yet this version tells its own story with its own character designs, departing entirely from that manga. A closer adaptation of Yokoyama's work arrived later, as a TV anime in 1991.
