Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei doesn't do recaps like normal shows, it uses the excuse to cram seven different flavors of broken into one special and watch them collide. The comedy lives in the spaces between absurdity and genuine hurt, where a girl obsessed with knots and a student literally tied up in her own neuroses somehow make you laugh while you're wincing. This is what happens when a show trusts you to find the joke in the wreckage.

A one-episode comedy special that looks back over the first season of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Rather than offering a new story, it revisits earlier material with the spotlight on seven of the girls. Those seven are Kitsu Chiri, Kimura Kaere, Hitou Nami, Komori Kiri, Kobushi Abiru, Matoi Tsunetsuki and Sekiuchi "Maria" Tarou. A 24-minute version of the special also aired on BS11.
