You get dropped into a novel where you're supposed to be the villain, but the only way to survive is to actually care about the person you're supposed to destroy. The system is there to keep you alive, but what keeps you watching is the quiet horror of realizing you love someone the story wrote you to hate. By the end, you understand: this isn't about gaming a system or outsmarting fate, it's about choosing tenderness in a story that was never written for it.

Shen Yuan, a reader of xianxia novels, suddenly finds himself inside the world of Proud Immortal Demon Way. He is not the hero but Shen Qingqiu, a cultivation master who seems noble yet is a hypocrite. In the original story this man mistreats his disciple Luo Binghe, the protagonist, and later suffers a horrible, humiliating end at his hands. Determined to escape that fate, the new Shen Qingqiu sets out to win Luo Binghe's goodwill so the boy never has a reason for revenge. A mischievous monitoring system watches his every move, though, and blocks any behavior that strays from the villain's cruel character or threatens to derail the plot. With a string of tragedies scripted to befall Luo Binghe through his own master, Shen Qingqiu faces an uphill struggle to change the story. The result is a fantasy drama about a master and his disciple, by turns angsty and touching.
