Futaba Ichinose joins a voice acting agency with dreams of becoming a professional seiyuu, but she's got just two years to prove herself before they cut her loose. As a rookie, she hunts for auditions and recording sessions, dreads the call that tells her she didn't get the part, and tries to find a voice and style of her own. Then she meets Ichigo and Rin. Ichigo is an aspiring idol who claims to be royalty from Planet Strawberry. Rin is a cheerful child actress who has worked professionally since she was five and juggles her career with school. Together, the three form Earphones, a voice acting unit. Being in a group won't save Futaba on its own, though: with her agency's assessment approaching, she needs to land more roles. The result is a comedy and drama about the everyday work behind anime voices, mixing humor with an earnest look at the industry.
