A year later and Saki's still breaking your heart, except this time the camera stays on her long enough to show you why. The movie doesn't expand the world or throw plot at you, it just lets you sit with these people and watch what actually matters: a grandmother's quiet acceptance, a mother's slow understanding, a girl learning she doesn't have to perform anymore. By the end you're not thinking about whether this deserved a theatrical release. You're thinking about whether Saki's going to be okay.

Senpai is an Otokonoko: Sunshine After the Rain is a theatrical sequel to the 2024 TV anime, adapted from Pom's romance manga. The earlier series centered on Makoto Hanaoka, who is caught in a love triangle after the confident, energetic Saki Aoi confesses to him and their mutual friend Ryuuji Taiga admits he has feelings for Makoto too. The film returns to this story with a mix of comedy, drama and romance. Its opening portion screened early at a special event in January 2025, and the regular theatrical release began on 14 February 2025.
