A frog alien who was supposed to conquer Earth is too distracted by plastic models and actual friendship to bother. The movie takes that joke and runs with it, finding genuine warmth in the spaces between the absurdity. You're watching something that knows exactly how silly it is, commits to that silliness without apology, then sneaks in a moment where you actually care about a kid and his weird green best friend.
Keroro, a frog-like alien sergeant, came to Earth from the planet Keron with four subordinates to conquer it, but the platoon soon started enjoying life there instead. Staying in the Hinata household, Keroro has become friends with Fuyuki, and one day the two head out to buy a new Gundam model. On the way home they come across a hidden shrine and accidentally break something inside. Strange things begin happening all over town: an X mark spreads to people across Tokyo and gives them telepathic powers, and panic follows. The broken vessel had held Kiruru, an ancient ultimate weapon of Keron. Then Mirara, who knows Kiruru's secret, appears and tells them the only way to save the Earth. The result is a comedic sci-fi movie.
