It drops snow on a summer street and lets you feel the dread before anyone says the word vampire. This is the one where the ensemble finally stops being an ensemble: Mahiru does what Mahiru always does, rounding everyone up to solve the problem himself, and the person missing from the group chat is Misono. So the movie becomes an Arisuin family autopsy, brother against brother, with Lily standing exactly where a Servamp of Lust stands when his Eve's past is the actual enemy. Kuro is his usual deadweight until the moment he isn't. What sells it is how quietly it plays the reunion, a cast still bandaged from the last war, walking into a frozen garden that was never really about the weather. Mahiru Shirota and the other Servamps and Eves are easing back into ordinary life, still recovering from the injuries of earlier battles. Then snow begins to fall in midsummer, and Mahiru suspects that vampires are behind it. Worried by the strange event, he tries to bring the group together again to get to the bottom of it. Suddenly, they lose contact with Misono Arisuin, who is bound as Eve to the Lust Servamp. The film digs into the hidden history of Misono and his brother Mikuni Arisuin, along with the many secrets of the vast Arisuin Mansion, in a supernatural action story.
