A giant robot guardian keeps saving Tokyo while your classmates develop psychic powers, but the show treats this like background noise to the actual story: watching a transfer student with an ancient uniform slowly unravel what he really is. Every scene earns its place. The pacing feels impossibly relaxed for something juggling aliens and supernatural awakening, making it rewatchable in a way most mecha shows aren't.

When a strange alien ship appears over Tokyo, Hajime Murata's everyday school life starts to come apart. A mysterious transfer student named Muryou arrives in an old-fashioned school uniform, and soon classmates begin showing psychic powers. A giant white guardian keeps turning up in the skies above the city to battle enormous alien creatures, while armed men lurk in the shadows around the school. Surrounded by these events, Hajime sets out to learn the truth about a world he thought he understood. Aliens and humans, starships and spies meet in this mecha science fiction adventure, where friends often turn out to be more than they seem.
