A boy walks into the mountains for a ritual kill and the mountain decides what dies instead. This is not a coming-of-age story about finding yourself in nature, it is about the moment you realize nature does not care what you came to do. The hunt becomes a conversation between a kid and something older than his entire bloodline, and by the end you understand why his people have always lived in these mountains with respect instead of ownership.

High in the northern mountains lives a community that has long depended on what the land provides. A boy reaching adulthood sets out into the peaks for his first hunt, and his task is to find the Kuroshishi. Up there, survival and death sit very close together, and the wilderness can turn dangerous without warning. This action adventure film centers on that journey into the mountains and the hazards nature holds for anyone who enters them.
