A kid and his sea lion just exist together, no plot required. The show knows the funniest thing isn't a punchline, it's watching someone try to fit a massive marine animal into normal life. You come for the absurdity of owning a goma-chan, you stay because watching Ashibe's family treat it like it's just another member makes everything feel right.

Ashibe is a first-grade boy whose everyday life gets a lot livelier thanks to his pet, a baby spotted seal named Goma-chan. Episodes are short comedy slices built around the pair's friendship, their unusual school, and the neighbors, family and friends who share their days. Adapted from a four-panel comic strip, the show swings between endearing and bizarre moments. There's nothing high-stakes happening here, just a gentle, pleasant comedy for the whole family that follows a boy and his seal through ordinary life.
