Behind the Line is a self-contained spinoff film in the Fafner mecha franchise. It is set after the events of Heaven and Earth and before Exodus, and it shows the everyday moments of the series' boys and girls once Soushi Minashiro has come back home. Rather than another battle story, the film was promised to fans as a peaceful side entry, a quieter drama within a science fiction mecha world.
