You will watch a decorated ace pilot agonize over something completely beneath him, and you will laugh harder than the war footage ever earned. That is the whole trick of Tiramisu: Subaru Ichinose sits alone in the Durandal's cockpit with the gravitas of a man about to die for the fleet, and the crisis is always petty, personal, and entirely self-inflicted. These three Blu-ray extras are the same joke sharpened, no plot debt, no stakes, just a pilot and a confined space and his own worst instincts. The comedy runs on straight-faced sci-fi framing, the serious mecha voice doing absolutely undignified work, and it lands because nobody blinks. It is slept on because it looks like a throwaway bonus disc and plays like a comedy writer who understood exactly how long a bit should run. Perfect for the night you want mecha without a single tragedy attached.

Space Battleship Tiramisu Specials is a set of three special episodes from 2018 that never aired on television and were instead included with the Blu-ray volumes. They mix comedy with mecha, science fiction and slice-of-life elements.
