A letter from a young girl named Megumi Kawamura asks Kitaro to find her missing father, and the young yokai sets out at once. On Baruru Island, he learns that for years Japanese men who climb the nearby mountain have vanished, carried off by a local yokai called Akamata. Heading into the jungle to bring Mr. Kawamura back, Kitaro encounters a malevolent being that saps his very essence. Meanwhile, the island's yokai are preparing for war against Japan and calling on the power of their god, Zeokuronodon. Built on the 1996 TV anime but telling an original story, the film mixes action, fantasy and supernatural horror.
