This is a recut that assumes you already live in this world. If you haven't watched the series, the movie abandons you halfway through its own plot. For people who made it through the TV run, those new opening sequences and the way the mecha fights breathe in ways the show couldn't afford hits like a reminder of what you fell in love with. The real cost of watching this is that it's built for people who already chose it once.
A reworked cut of the Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto TV series, this film adds a new epilogue after the original ending. On remote Southern Cross Isle, a secret group called the Glittering Crux wants to revive cybodies, giant machines sealed away for ages that only pilots known as star drivers can operate. To free their full power, the group must break the seals held by the island's four shrine maidens. Tsunashi Takuto, a newcomer who swam over from the mainland and washed ashore one night, enrolls as a freshman at Southern Cross High School. He swears to stop the Crux to protect Agemaki Wako, one of the maidens and the girl who saved his life. Wako is engaged to her wealthy childhood friend Shindou Sugata through family tradition. As the Galactic Pretty Boy, star driver of the cybody Tauburn, Takuto becomes both their friend and a guardian of the seals, in a mecha action story.
