Stitch wakes up in the wrong country with the wrong family, and spends thirteen episodes learning that maybe he landed exactly where he needed to. The show treats Ai Ling's ordinary life, her worries about school, her place in her family, the small kindnesses that cost nothing, as equally real as the space criminals hunting Stitch through the mountains. It's a Disney show that understands a rescue happens in both directions, and that home isn't a place you return to, it's a person who decides you belong.
Stitch is snatched away from Lilo by a band of outlaws from space who hope to reproduce Jumba's work on Experiment 626. When a competing gang raids their ship, he slips loose amid the confusion and returns to Earth, landing in China's Huangshan mountains. There he meets Ai, a lively girl from the area who may be parted from her older sister Jiejie, and he joins her household as her "dog." The pair support one another: Ai helps Stitch fend off the two gangs still hunting him, and he helps her remain at home in the mountains. Jumba and Pleakley eventually turn up, initially intending to return Stitch to the United Galactic Federation. Taking place after Leroy & Stitch and before the Stitch! anime, the series is a sci-fi adventure about an alien experiment finding a new home.
