Music doesn't just vanish in this movie, the emotional core of every character vanishes with it. The Precure have fought plenty of villains, but never one that steals the thing that made them who they are in the first place. Watching them rebuild connection without the language they were born speaking is what gives this film its teeth. The stakes aren't world-ending explosions. It's Ako choosing to stay behind again, but this time knowing exactly what it costs.

Ako's father Mephisto has regained his kind heart, and the two plan to return home to Major Land together. Before they can leave, a howling noise sweeps through the town and every sound of music disappears. When no word comes back from Major Land, Hibiki, Kanade and Ellen go there with them and find a desolate, silent place whose people play instruments that make no sound, their faces as empty as stone. Ako's childhood friend Suzu insists that Aphrodite suddenly changed and took the music away. Ako refuses to believe her and heads to the palace with Mephisto, while the other girls chase after Suzu and run into three men who want the Healing Chest. The Pretty Cure must uncover what really happened and face the true enemy. The film is an action fantasy entry in the magical girl franchise, set between episodes 36 and 37 of the TV series.
