Hairi Takahara, a boy carrying a wounded heart, leaves the city after his grandmother's death to spend the summer on Torishirojima, a quiet island where time seems to slow down. He moves in with his aunt, Kyouko Misaki, and with his cousin Umi Katou he helps sort a shed full of the artifacts his grandmother collected. In his free time he wanders the island and meets four girls: cheerful Tsumugi Wenders, withdrawn Shiroha Naruse, the roaming Kamome Kushima and blunt Ao Sorakado, each reaching for something just beyond her grasp.
