Eleven-year-old Takasumi Takane has been told he will get a new bicycle if his exam results land in the top 100, but he places 112th. He tells his mother he came in 92nd and tears up his answer sheets. On the way home from cram school he breaks the old bicycle meant to go to his little sister, Tamaki, who is angry and calls him a liar, and he starts to see her as a nuisance. One night, looking for his missing dog Chris at a shrine, he meets a young man named Yoyogi, who somehow holds an answer sheet marked 92nd. Yoyogi offers a trade and warns he will return the sheet to its rightful owner unless Takane gives him something he doesn't need. Takane names his sister. Yoyogi turns Tamaki into a shining object and swallows her, and a remorseful Takane must beat him in a race on his broken bicycle to get her back.
