An eleven-year-old girl trapped between childhood and responsibility doesn't get a magical escape. She gets a stranger with a suitcase, and the question of whether she'll take it. The entire weight of the story lives in that one decision, in what a kid sacrifices when she chooses to stay. This is a special that understands resentment isn't a character flaw, it's what happens when you're old enough to see what you're missing but too young to leave.
Naho is eleven and carries a load few kids her age do. Since their mother died giving birth to her two-year-old brother Jun, she has been looking after him at home while her friends are free to play. On her birthday, just after she makes plans with friends, her father says he must go out and that she has to stay with Jun until a babysitter arrives. The visitor who turns up is a strange man in a long coat carrying a big suitcase, who calls himself Kotaro the Dreamball Dealer. He offers to take her to a dreamland far from her daily routine, with three very different dreams to choose from. Soon odd things begin to happen. One world after another passes before her: playing with friends, being alone with her parents again, even drifting into Jun's own dream. Confused and uneasy, Naho has to work out what she truly wants. The special is a short fantasy drama that won the 5th Animax Grand Prix.
