This is a parody that actually understands what it's parodying. The jokes land because the show knows Tales well enough to break it in exactly the right places, turning RPG tropes into physical comedy that works even if you've never touched a Tales game. Watching puppets earnestly stumble through the same tired hero's journey beats, then immediately undercut themselves, is the kind of stupid that requires actual craft.

Puppets take the stage in this comedic ONA parody of the Tales of franchise, poking fun at the popular RPG series through a steady stream of gags. Nothing is sacred. Alongside the jokes, the episodes also serve as an introduction to the games for newcomers. The humor works on multiple levels. Longtime fans of the Tales series recognize the tropes being parodied. Newcomers get a crash course in what the games are like. What emerges is less a serious adaptation and more a love letter disguised as mockery. Perfect for anyone who enjoys their fantasy adventures served with a sense of humor.
