Nobody talks about this one. Masamune Shirow takes the absurd premise of tank cops vs. AI tanks and actually makes it work as a tense siege that respects both the hardware and the human problem underneath it. The OVA moves like live action, no padding, no explaining itself twice, and trusts you to keep up with the tactical choreography. It's Shirow doing what he does best: taking military sci-fi seriously enough that the ridiculous parts become inevitable. Watch it if you want mecha action that treats its own scenario like a real problem, not a setup for jokes.

Masamune Shirow's Dominion Tank Police returns in a CGI-animated spinoff OVA. Yuri and Asada are sent to recover confidential data discs stolen from the government, but when they finally locate them, tanks run by artificial intelligence put their lives in danger. Leona Ozaki's Tank SWAT team moves in to fight the machines, which belong to terrorists who have taken over the NT Building. Destroying the tanks does not end the threat: a mysterious android takes Asada hostage and locks a bomb collar around her neck. Leona is left with a hard choice, whether to gamble the data discs and the rest of her team to save one teammate.
