Look, you already know Seigaku and Rikkai hate each other. These shorts just take that hatred and make it stupid funny instead. Chibi versions of grown men losing their minds over the smallest things hits way harder than it has any right to, Inui documenting everyone's nonsense like a creep, Sanada being impossibly serious about nothing. The joke isn't that they're cute. The joke is that they're exactly the same people you've been watching, just slightly shorter and significantly more unhinged.
Three short comedy specials in chibi-style flash animation came bundled with the fan disc The Time Comes Around Remix. In the first, Seigaku and Rikkai meet for an unofficial rematch, but the players never get to tennis. They drift into a round of Acchi Muite Poi and an argument over whose data is better. In the second, mysterious love letters start turning up in shoe lockers at Seigaku. Sadaharu Inui treats this as a chance to study how the regulars respond when a letter is addressed to them. The third has Rikkai captain Seiichi Yukimura asking his vice captain, Genichirou Sanada, to pose for his next painting. Sanada's reluctance does little for Yukimura's inspiration.
